Warranty Information for SCL Technology Limited  

This applies to mainland UK warranty only. Remote areas, e.g., Scottish Highlands, and non-mainland areas please contact SCL Technology Limited to clarify warranty cover and response times. Warranties are NOT transferable and onsite warranty is only available to educational establishments, local authorities and government bodies.

All ClassMaster/SCL PCs are tested prior to dispatch. On the rare occasion that a fault occurs it is invariably caused by one of two things, a component part becoming dislodged during transit, quickly resolved by re-seating the component part, or a software corruption / conflict. In any event please contact SCL Technology Limited for advice.

A DOA period of 14 days exists. If a fault is diagnosed upon opening and/or setting up the PC and it is within the 14 day period the PC qualifies as DOA. Please contact SCL Technology Limited technical support centre. The PC will be couriered to SCL Technology Limited for testing, repair/ replacement. This is a priority process and is normally turned around within 3 working days.

If a fault is reported at any other time during the warranty period the customer is required to call SCL Technology Limited’s technical support. An engineer will then assess the situation and attempt to resolve the problem by phone. On occasion this may involve internet use and as such it would be preferable to have access at the time. If a faulty component is identified, for example a stick of memory, and the customer is a competent computer user, SCL Technology Limited will initially offer to send out a replacement part subject to stock availability, for next working day delivery. This is the quickest way of problem fixing and is preferred by the majority of customers. Alternatively, should the customer not feel confident about installing the replacement part/s, a RMA will be created and the faulty item should be returned to SCL Technology Limited using a suitable method of packing and delivery, the faulty item will then be returned to site after repair. This will incur a slightly longer turn around time as SCL Technology Limited reserve the right to run full diagnostic checks and fault rectification followed by secondary testing before being returned to the customer. At the discretion of SCL Technology Limited a new PC may be built and supplied as a replacement. We aim for any collected PCs to be returned within 5 working days, subject to parts availability and third party courier services.

A wide range of warranty cover is provided please check the individual warranty conditions that were purchased with your system. 5 years warranty is for years 1 to 3 parts and labour years 4 and 5 labour only.

SCL Technology Limited will not be held responsible for the loss of data caused by a faulty part. It is advised that a regular back up of data is taken, especially prior to any change to the PC whether it be software or hardware based. Please note warranty covers hardware only, SCL Technology Limited cannot be held responsible for network or software conflicts / issues, etc. The warranty is a faulty hardware fix only warranty.

SCL Technology Limited reserve the right to levy a charge to recover all costs incurred should the fault not be a hardware fault or if it is a user caused fault (terms and conditions item 5a iii & iv apply). To surmise, the minimum charge is £75.00 covering the first hour of work after which the fee is £75 per hour charged by the 1/4 of an hour, plus any travel costs (mileage will be charged at £0.40 per mile) plus the cost of any parts used.
Additionally, the warranty covers the PC unit but not peripheral products such as mice, keyboards, webcams, monitors, etc. These will be covered by the standard one year warranty as per our terms and conditions or have a direct warranty with the manufacturer. Warranty cover starts from date of invoice unless otherwise agreed.
